The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam (Friendship Booklets II)
T. N. Foulis, Edinburgh, c. 1905, envelope book with thin card overlay covers with paste down colour plate, VG, 75 verses, illustrated from colour frontispiece and decorative title page in addition to four mounted colour plates by Gilbert James, unpag. This is thought to be the first envelope book published.
No inscription or annotations, cracked spine although binding remains tight and square, hand cut pages clean, foxing to inside of covers and edges of pages. Darkening to covers, rubs to all edges and corners, 2cm split to one side of spine tail, otherwise intact.
