New arrivals from across the sea!
We have recently taken in several boxes of books all about the Isle of Man; an island across the sea that I first visited when I was 6 months old! My next visit was during Foot & Mouth in the summer of 2001. Thankfully we were allowed to walk some of the coastal paths as well enjoy many of the island's heritage trails. The tourist guides are ‘right on the button’ when they describe the dramatic coastlines and the rick folklore that one can explore and learn so much about. We also enjoyed exploring the many Fairy ‘hot spots’.
The books that have just come in range from memories of growing up in Laxey and Peel to the history of the postal service and public transport. Several books about the Isle of Man also explain the islands unique fairy culture, with both modern and historical tales signifying the importance of respecting the mooinjer veggey (Manx for little people).
If you have visited the Isle of Man or would like to, then come and explore our collection of books about this enchanting island. You can learn so much from reading them as well as be inspired to visit our Manx neighbours.
