Hodder and Stoughton, London, 1940, Reprint, hardback with dust wrapper, VG/gd+, boards blue/black with illustration to front board and spine strip (see scans), illustrated from seven single colour gravure plates including frontispiece in addition to 13 line drawings in text by Mabel Lucie Attwell, 144 pp.

Boards clean and firm, rubs to edges, gentle bumps to corners, no inscription or annotations, sound square binding, pages clean and bright, flap shadows to end papers, light foxing to top edge of text block, smattering of impact marks to bottom edge.

Wrapper clean and crisp, rubs to outer hinges, edges and corners, 4cm closed tear to front panel, 3cm closed tear across spine strip (see scans), three 0.5cm closed tears to back, 8 cm by 2cm (at its highest point) chip to bottom edge including spine tail (see scan), price not clipped, now protected by acid-free archive film.
